Dr. Abbie Vandivere is a paintings conservator at the Mauritshuis. She is also coordinator and lecturer of the Technical Art History Art History MA programme, within the department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the University of Amsterdam. She graduated with a BA from Princeton University (USA, 2001), a Pg. Dip. Cons. from the Courtauld Institute of Art (UK, 2005), and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands, 2013).  Recently, Dr. Vandivere was the head researcher of the project The Girl in the Spotlight: coordinating and working with an international team of scientists to examine Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring (ca. 1665). Over the last two years, she edited or contributed to 15+ scientific publications about this project. The media exposure from this project led to her to be nominated for the Dutch ‘Woman in the Media 2020’ award. She is also a member of the scientific committee of NICAS (Netherlands Institute for Conservation, Art and Science), and the program committee for the Historians of Netherlandish Art.
